The situation of women in Russia has improved significantly, according to the Senator, the Chairman of the Union of women Russia Catherine Lakhov.

In an interview with RIA Novosti, she said that, besides the fact that the third person in the state – Chairman of the Federation Council Valentina Matviyenko is, Central Bank and audit chamber in the country are also run by women – Elvira Nabiullina and Tatyana Golikova. According to her, women are now also in Russia occupy the posts of Ministers responsible for human rights and children, governors, chairmen of legislative assemblies, heads of major universities, and so on.

«If so to speak, we have in recent years, the situation has changed for the better anyway. We’re not talking about gender, but the situation and the specific case we have, in General, is changing,» said Lakhova.

Thus, according to the Senator, to appoint woman to senior positions only on the basis of gender is impossible.

«It all depends on the woman. Not that she’s a woman, so you need it somewhere to «move». Most importantly, was the professionalism,» said Lakhova.

The women’s Union of Russia all — Russian public non-governmental organization established in November 1990. It brings together on a voluntary basis, women’s councils, unions, associations, committees and clubs operating in 82 regions of Russia.
