The death toll from torrential rains and landslides in Southeast Bangladesh has risen to 147, reported Reuters, citing local authorities.

Earlier it was reported 134 victims.

Heavy rains began in the South-Eastern part of Bangladesh on Monday morning, most as a result of bad weather affected County Rangamati and Bandarban. In the affected areas is not working telephone disrupted traffic.

At least 11 people were killed in the Indian States of Mizoram and Assam on the border with Bangladesh.

In the office of the Prime Minister of India Narendra modi said that the country is ready to support Bangladesh in search and rescue operations.

As previously said the Agency representative of the emergency management Bangladesh Reaz Ahmed, the death toll may increase. According to him, rescuers are trying to get into hard to reach areas affected by the floods.

During the monsoon in Bangladesh lasts from June to September. The landslides caused by heavy rains often carry away tens human lives.
