In the state Duma has accepted with regret the news of the death of people’s artist of the USSR Alexei Batalov; it was the glory of the Russian cinema, has told RIA Novosti on Thursday, the film Director, the first Deputy Chairman of the Duma Committee on culture Vladimir Bortko.

Batalov died Thursday morning in Moscow on 89-m to year of life. Informed the wife of the actor told RIA Novosti that the Director spent two months in the hospital after he broke his leg. Later he was transferred to a rehabilitation center.

«Leave the people are the glory of our cinema. It is a great loss for our cinema. This is a man who never has a bad role is not played,» said Bortko.

He called Batalova a man of high culture, who personified the Russian art.

«Very sorry,» said Bortko, adding that, unfortunately, he personally was not familiar with the artist.

The head of the Duma Committee on culture, film Director Stanislav Govorukhin said that the Director was an amazing actor, but also noted that he personally was not acquainted with him.

Batalov was born in 1928. The actor starred in more than 40 films, one of his most famous roles — in the film Vladimir Menshov «Moscow does not believe in tears».
