Russian President Vladimir Putin, commenting on the coup in Ukraine in 2014, asked the question, as it was called in the United States, in the case of the capture of the White house.

Speaking about reports in the American press about what the ex-President of Ukraine Viktor Yanukovych fled Kiev, Putin said that «this version in order to justify support for the coup.»

«He had only to go to the second largest city in the country on political events, armed men seized the residence of the President. If the United States took the White house, as it was called? A coup, or what? Or do you think they came there to sweep the floor?», — Putin said in an interview with the Director Oliver stone in the film shown on television channel Showtime.

The interview was recorded from July 2015 to February 2017.

The head of state noted that «the attorney General shot, wounding one of the officers of his security, the convoy of the President was also shot, so it’s nothing like a violent seizure of power».

«Even the day after that, with our help he moved to the Crimea, which at that time was part of Ukraine. And there was still… a week at least, assuming that there is still some chance that the people who put his signature under the agreement (21 February 2014) will make at least some attempt to resolve this conflict in a civilized, democratic, legal means. There is nothing like this. Just became obvious that if he falls into their hands, they just kill and all», — said Putin.

He added that «of course we can distort and to deceive millions of people using a monopoly on the media, but in the end, I think an objective observer is still clear what happened.» «There was a coup,» — said Putin.
