Russia’s first monument to Prince Ivan III established the Hermitage in the Vladimir, Kaluga Svyato-Tikhonova desert, which houses the Museum complex of the «Great standing on the Ugra», the official opening is scheduled for July 8, reports the official site of Kaluga diocese.

«The strong Prince of an independent state, Ivan III was the Governor, who in 1480 laid the Foundation of a free Russia now welcomes visitors to the Museum complex «Great standing on the Ugra river». The monument was created by the best sculptors of St. Petersburg. John III is cast in bronze, total height with the pedestal is about 4.5 m. It completes the composition of the Museum complex, which consists of a Church, the cross, the diorama artist Pavel Ryzhenko», — stated in the message.
