Tougher measures to counter illegal labour migration ensured jobs for more than 3 thousands of inhabitants of the Tver region in 2016, told RIA Novosti the representative of the press service of the regional government following the results of meeting the head of the region Igor farm, with with the security forces on strengthening of control over the registration of foreign citizens.

In particular, at the initiative of the Governor was increased, the labor cost of the patent for foreign citizens from 3.5 to 5 thousand rubles per month and a ban on the use of migrant labor for 22 types of activities that led to the reorientation of large enterprises primarily on local talent.

«Tough immigration policy is an important factor of economic development, improving people’s quality of life. Priority in employment should be given to the indigenous population and residents of neighboring regions. In April 2017 the Tver region has taken a number of legislative initiatives in the sphere of migration policy. It is, in particular, banning of registration of a migrant if it accounts for less than 5 square meters of living space in the residence. This will allow to strengthen the fight against «rubber» apartments and deal with hostels, through which a large number of migrants, said the press service.
