New sanctions against Russia, proposed by the Senate, look like a blatant lobby energy companies in the US seeking to displace Russian gas and oil to world markets, told RIA Novosti trade representative of Russia to the United States Alexander Stadnik.

«With regard to the energy plots of the bill, they look not only as political pressure, but as the use of sanctions for unfair competition,» — said Stadnik. According to him, «gas production in the US comes to the level of profitability of production when a new niche in the international market for these products».

«Accordingly, sanctions creating difficulties for the Russian, Iranian, Qatari, and other energy companies, they thereby create conditions for a large-scale withdrawal of American companies in the global LNG markets. It becomes so blatant promotion of their oil and gas industry using non-market tools and banned techniques», — said the Agency interlocutor.

Probably such blatant lobby can be explained by the desire of the US to compensate the growth of budget expenses and the cost of debt service in terms of the growth rate of the Federal reserve system, said Stadnik.

Earlier, foreign Minister of Germany Sigmar Gabriel and the Austrian Chancellor Christian Kern condemned the draft of new U.S. sanctions, which, as they noted, it is «about the sale of us liquefied natural gas and squeezing of Russian natural gas supplies to the European market.» Gabriel and Kern believe that political sanctions instruments should not be linked with economic interests.

The U.S. Senate on Thursday approved a bill to expand sanctions against Russia. In particular, it is proposed to reduce the maximum term of market financing of Russian banks under sanctions, up to 14 days, of the companies subjected to the oil and gas sector — up to 30 days. The bill also suggests the possibility of applying sanctions against individuals who intend to invest in the construction of Russian export pipelines market value of over $ 5 million per year, or $ 1 million lump sum, or provide the projects, services, technology, to provide information support.
