The search for seven crew members of the destroyer USS Fitzgerald, collided with a container ship near Japan, continue, said the press service of the US Navy.

«Whereabouts unknown seven sailors, the ship and the Japanese coast guard continue their search,» — said in the message.

According to available information, at least two, including the captain of the destroyer, needed a medical evacuation, «the status of the other wounded men is estimated», said the Navy.

The U.S. Navy destroyer USS Fitzgerald collided with a merchant vessel ACX Crystal, marching under the flag of Philippines. The incident occurred southwest of the Japanese city of Yokosuka at 02.30 local time on Saturday.
