The security service of Ukraine requires not to use the Russian postal services in the registration of domain names, said in the letter, the SBU, posted on the website of the Internet Association of Ukraine.

As explained in the letter, Ukraine conducted activities «aimed at ensuring information security of the state.»

«During the implementation of these operations, revealed violations of requirements of the current legislation on the part of the owners of domain names in the zone «ua», «Ukr», including «gov.ua». In particular, for the management of domain names used by the postal services of the Russian companies «Yandex» and «Mail.ru» which imposed special restrictions according to the decree of the President»About the use of personal special economic and other restrictive measures (sanctions) «, — the document says.

The Department requests «to prevent damage to Ukraine’s information security… to conduct outreach to registrars of domain names on the restriction of the use of the Russian postal services in the registration and management of domain names.»

In may, the President of Ukraine approved the decision of the Council of national security and defense Council (NSDC) to extend and expand sanctions against individuals and legal entities of the Russian Federation. The extended list included 1228 physical and legal entities. 468 In particular, Ukraine imposes sanctions against a number of Russian media, the country is also prohibited access to social networks «Vkontakte», «Classmates» and resources «Yandex» and Mail.ru.
