The U.S. Navy can not yet confirm the information about the missing soldiers after the collision of destroyer USS Fitzgerald with the Philippine vessel, according to Reuters.

The U.S. Navy destroyer USS Fitzgerald collided with a merchant vessel ACX Crystal, marching under the flag of Philippines. The incident occurred southwest of the Japanese city of Yokosuka at 02.30 local time on Saturday. NHK TV reported that seven crew members are not communicating, another person was injured.

The Navy confirmed that one sailor in need of medical evacuation, assistance which has a coast guard of Japan.

According to the Agency, «the US official said that the crew is still working on the whole crew, and while he could not confirm whether the missing».

Earlier it was reported that as a result of the collision, the destroyer was damaged starboard side, in some sections of the ship exposed to water and remain on the move.
