In the Russian Orthodox Church has expressed condolences to relatives of the actor Alexei Batalov, who died June 15 at age 88.

Informed the wife of the actor told RIA Novosti that the Director spent two months in the hospital after he broke his leg. Later he was transferred to a rehabilitation center.

«You can tell a lot about the man, but I would particularly like to note that he was always himself. He was himself on stage and on screen, he never wore a mask, but always played himself. And maybe that’s what was really precious – that we saw his eyes, heard his voice, and we communicated with him and not with those characters that he played,» said at the funeral of the actor, the head of the Department for external Church relations of the Moscow Patriarchate Metropolitan Hilarion of Volokolamsk. Metropolitan performed the ceremony in the temple in honor of the icon of the mother of God «Joy of All who sorrow» in Bolshaya Ordynka.

The actor will be buried at the Transfiguration cemetery, according to his will. There mother is buried Batalov, actress Nina Olszewski (1908 – 1991), and his half-brother actor, Director Boris Ardov (1940 – 2004).
