In Berlin opened a «liberal mosque», where, contrary to tradition, men and women can pray together, according to the Associated Press.

The opening of this mosque more than the eight years sought by a human rights activist Seyran Ates, a daughter of Turkish migrants. The prayer room is located on the third floor of an old Lutheran Church.

«This project is long overdue. Now a lot of Islamist terror and so much evil perpetrated allegedly in the name of my religion, <…> it is therefore important that we, the modern and liberal Muslims who publicly showed our faces», says ATEC.

The first prayer in the building was done by a woman Imam Ani Zonneveld. Together to pray here can also Sunnis and Shiites.

The mosque was named after the Islamic philosopher Ibn Rushd and the German writer Johann Wolfgang von Goethe. The chapel is located in the migrant district of Berlin.
