Hundreds of firefighters and military participate on Monday in extinguishing a forest fire in the area of the tourist town of Makarska in the South of Croatia, said Monday the Ministry of defence of the country.

The fire originated in a forest in the mountains on Monday night and quickly began to spread to the coast, threatening residential areas. This has led to the closure of roads and evacuation early in the morning, thousands of tourists from hotels Jadran, Tamaris and Neptun and private apartments in the resort tučepi.
