French police conducting an operation in the centre of Paris, announced the Prefecture of the capital.

According to the BFMTV, the car crashed into a police van on the Champs Elysees. After the collision the car caught fire, the gendarmes detained who were in it 33-the summer man. As the channel, citing a source, the assailant was known to the intelligence services as potentially posing a security threat, his car was found a Kalashnikov rifle, pistols and ammunition.

As stated by interior Ministry spokesman Pierre-Henri Brande, according to preliminary estimates, the attack was committed intentionally. Now the culprit of the collision engaged the medics, but he «probably dead.»

The representative of the gendarmerie confirmed that the assailant was armed.

None of the officers and citizens were injured. According to Reuters, the law enforcers cordoned off the theatre Marigny and evacuated people at the site next to the building, at the place of work sappers. The Prefecture urged citizens to avoid the site of the operation.
