The inhabitants of the Crimea not afraid of Western sanctions and their duration, the head of the Crimean government Committee on inter-ethnic relations Zaur Smirnov.

The head of the EU foreign Ministers on Monday without discussion extended for a year sanctions against the Crimea. The restrictive measures was to expire on 23 June.

«Crimeans are not afraid of the actions of the West and remain firm in his decision to be with Russia. We never relied on Western aid and expected further sanctions. Duration of sanctions, we are not afraid», — told RIA Novosti Smirnov.

According to him, the Crimea in the last three years not only has adapted to the sanctions regime, but also learned to reap the benefits by developing their own economy.
