The idea of the establishment of the constitutional monarchical form of government was one of the issues discussed during the meeting Patriarch of all Georgia Ilia II, speaker of the Parliament, Irakli Kobakhidze and Chairman of the legal Affairs Committee, Eka Beselia, said on Monday in the Patriarchate.

During Sunday Liturgy, Ilia II took the initiative about establishment of the constitutional-monarchical form of government. In his words, «a constitutional monarchy brings tranquillity to the country.» The Patriarch added that this decision could not be taken «today or tomorrow».

«The Parliament speaker, and Ms. ESA presented the Patriarch with the constitutional amendments. In particular the conversation touched upon the idea of a constitutional monarchy… a Detailed review was not, the meeting lasted only 20 minutes,» — said to journalists the speaker of the Patriarchate of Michael Botkoveli.

He added that during the meeting Kobakhidze and Beselia announced intentions to bring the issue of constitutional monarchy for General public review.

«The position of the Patriarch was that he looks with hope on the subject of constitutional monarchy and believes that this will contribute to the history of the state a special role, of course, if this idea is acceptable to society,» said Botkoveli.
