Unemployment in Russia in may, according to preliminary data, amounted to 5.2% after 5.3% a month earlier, reported in the operational report of Rosstat.

«In may 2017, according to preliminary results of a sample survey of the labor force, 3.9 million people aged 15-72 years, or 5.2% of the labor force were classified as unemployed (according to methodology of the International Labour Organization)», — stated in the message Department.

In state institutions of the employment service as unemployed in may was 0.8 million people, including 0.7 million people received unemployment benefits, said the statistical office.

The number of economically active population of Russia (aged 15-72 years), according to preliminary results of a sample survey of the labour force, amounted to 75.8 million people, or 52% of the total population of the country, the total labour force of 76 million people.
