Putin and Atambayev will discuss cooperation of Russia and Kyrgyzstan

Russian President Vladimir Putin on Tuesday will hold talks with the head of Kyrgyzstan Almazbek Atambayev, during which it is planned to discuss international problems, questions of bilateral cooperation, as well as various aspects of integration processes in the Eurasian space, the press service of the Kremlin.

Atambayev, whose powers on a post of the President ends in the fall, is in Russia on a state visit from 19 to 23 June. He will have to leave a high position until December 1, 2017. According to the Constitution of Kyrgyzstan, the President is elected for a single six-year term. One person can only once in a lifetime position. Next elections of the head of the Kyrgyz state scheduled on October 15. He Atambayev has repeatedly stated that it will not prepare a successor, nevertheless, political experts predict that the theme of the upcoming transit of power in Kyrgyzstan will not last in the list of discussions, the heads of Kyrgyzstan in Moscow.

The Moscow meeting

As reported in the Kremlin, during the negotiations on June 20 the leaders will discuss key issues of bilateral relations and identified measures for development of cooperation in political, trade-economic, cultural-humanitarian and scientific fields.

In addition, as expected, there will be an exchange of views on various aspects of progress of integration processes in the Eurasian space and a number of topical international and regional problems.

According to the results of the visit includes the signing of several bilateral documents. Head of the Department of foreign policy office of the President of Kyrgyzstan Aizada Subakojoev told reporters that, in particular, it is planned to adopt the Declaration on the strengthening of the Alliance and strategic partnership between Kyrgyzstan and Russia, which will become «an important political document», which reflects the position of the two countries on many important issues of cooperation and agreement in the field of health, migration, statistics, and Finance.

After talks with Putin, the next day, Atambaev plans to meet with Russian Prime Minister Dmitry Medvedev. In a press-service of the government reported that at the meeting it is planned to consider topical issues of Russian-Kyrgyz cooperation in trade, investment, industrial, scientific-technical and cultural-humanitarian fields, and to discuss joint integration work within the framework of the Eurasian economic Union.

During the state visit of Atambayev will visit Bashkortostan and Tatarstan, where he will meet with heads of these regions. Will discuss issues on development of inter-regional cooperation, enhancing trade and economic ties. In Kazan and Ufa are also planned concerts, exhibitions and film screenings. Friday, June 23, in Kazan will host the days of culture of Kyrgyzstan.

According to the analyst, the co-Chairman of club of regional experts «Pikir» Igor Shestakov, the talks between Putin and Atambayev, most likely, will be summed up certain phases of interaction between Russia and Kyrgyzstan in recent years.

He believes that the topic of the upcoming presidential elections of Kyrgyzstan also is interested in Moscow in the context of preserving stability in the Republic and the Central Asian region as a whole. The expert said that both countries are fighting terrorism and extremism, therefore, according to him, it is expected that the two leaders will confirm the course for further strategic partnership.

The expert noted that under the presidency of the state of Russian-Kyrgyz cooperation has reached a real and more concrete level, in almost all spheres of interaction. This happens, in particular, thanks to the close cooperation of the heads of the two States.

Over the past four months, the Russian President visited Bishkek twice — on an official visit on 28 February and 14 April at the meeting of the EAEU. In addition, the two heads of state meet regularly on the margins of international events.
