The launch to the ISS module «Science» will be held «without a doubt» in 2018, this deadline, told reporters the General Director of rocket and space Corporation (RKK) Energia Vladimir Solntsev.

Module «Science» began to build in the Khrunichev Centre in 1995, since then the launch date was repeatedly postponed.

The module is intended for productive research work and storage of goods, the provision of the port for docking of transport ships and research modules and the pumping of fuel from trucks «progress» in the service module «Zvezda». According to the specifications, the module must also be placed the European robotic arm ERA.

«In 2018, of course, run, no doubt. It’s already the deadline. We have linked program modules, so if one module where-that flies, accordingly it is necessary to reshape everything, it is quite difficult,» — said the sun to the exhibition Paris Air Show.

Earlier it was reported that Russia intends to retrofit the ISS with three new modules MLM (Nauka), NEM and «Berth» in 2017-2019 years, for these purposes it was planned to allocate more than 10 billion rubles. Currently, the ISS consists of a Russian module Pirs, Poisk, Rassvet, Zarya and Zvezda.

The construction of the multipurpose laboratory module (MLM) «Nauka» began in 1995 in the Center of Khrunichev. Equipment of the product and the project itself has been revised, and the module itself was at the factory. The timing of the launch with the help of the carrier rocket «proton» has also shifted: initially the launch was scheduled for the first half of 2014, then for 2015.

However, in the course of works on equipping RSC «Energy» in the motor system has detected foreign particles, and the decision of the then head of the company Vitaly Lopota, the module sent it back to the Khrunichev Center for the next revision. Executive Director of the Roscosmos manned space programs Sergey Krikalev reported that the launch module is again transferred, this time to 2018.
