The project of the pipeline «Nord stream-2» has all the chances of success, you just need to calmly, patiently and kindly explain to the partners that the project is not directed against anyone but is intended to promote the development of energy markets, said Russian President Vladimir Putin at a meeting with the head Shell.

The project «Northern stream-2» involves the construction of two pipelines with a total capacity of 55 billion cubic meters of gas off the coast of Russia through the Baltic sea to Germany. The new pipeline is planned to be build next to the «Nord stream». Shell, along with Engie, OMV, and Wintershall Uniper is a partner of «Gazprom» on realization of the project «Northern stream-2».

«In terms of our plans, including the project «Northern stream-2″, which you mentioned, of course, he has every chance of success. I always emphasize that this is a purely commercial project. It is, of course, is associated with the prospects of expanding gas consumption in Europe to 510 billion cubic meters per year and production cuts in European countries, including Northern Europe,» said Putin.

«I think we just need calm all our partners, to all countries concerned, legal entities, to explain that this project is not directed against anyone, but on the contrary, it is intended to promote the development of energy markets,» continued the Russian President.

He noted that this position should be explained. According to him, Europe is, of course, can get energy from other sources, but the question of competitiveness, logistics and cost. «It seems we just patiently and in a friendly way to engage in dialogue with all our partners», — concluded Putin.
