The Austrian foreign Minister and OSCE Chairman Sebastian Kurz called for the closure of kindergartens for children from Muslim families.

Asked the host of the discussion club organized by the Kurier newspaper whether he thinks it necessary to close these kindergartens, Kurtz replied: «of Course. They are not needed. Muslim kindergartens should not exist».

In his view, such institutions are isolated, both culturally and linguistically.

In early June, the Austrian authorities finally approved the act on the integration of migrants in the country. Among other things, it prohibits the wearing of a full face-covering Muslim women’s clothing in public places, a head covering scarf for officials, judges and prosecutors and the spread of Salafi interpretations of the Quran.

In addition, the law introduces a compulsory German language course, failure to pass which may affect the guarantees given by the country, providing jobs to community service. It is expected that the whole integration programme will cost the Treasury EUR 100 million per year.
