The situation around temporarily blocking Google is not associated with provocation of hackers or a mistake of Roskomnadzor, this suggests that in the legal field of the Russian Federation there are no untouchables, said the head of the Duma Committee on information policy Leonid Levin.

«The situation around temporarily blocking Google is not associated with provocation of hackers, bug, Roskomnadzor or the illegal entry of a company’s website in the unified register of prohibited information. All this suggests that in the Russian legal field, there are no untouchables, and even major online players should not abuse their position by interacting with the sites conducting illegal activity,» Levin told reporters.

He noted that the resonance caused by this event once again shows the sensitivity of the topic for citizens and the media. «This should be a warning for online companies and make them more responsible in the future to choose their partners», — added the MP.

According to him, the incident is a striking example proving the timeliness of the proposal of the head of Roskomnadzor Alexander Zharov on the establishment on the site of the state Duma Committee on information policy, information technologies and communications permanent working group that will deal with issues of law enforcement in combating illegal content.
