The presentation of the book by German journalist Hubert Seipel Hubert about the President of Russia Vladimir Putin took place on Thursday evening in Rome; in Italian the book written on the basis of personal meetings and joint visits German TV journalist with the Russian leader, was published under the title, «Putin said. Now he says».

The event, organized by the Association «Know Eurasia», was attended by prominent journalists, professors of Italian universities, experts, and also Russian Ambassador to the Vatican Alexander Avdeev. The book is sold in Russia under the title «Putin: the logic of power», written on the basis of numerous personal meetings, conversations, visits Putin and German TV journalist. The main task Seipel saw is not to create another «author’s» portrait of the President of the Russian Federation, and to accurately and fully convey the true views of Putin and the motives of his decisions. The idea, which aims to bring the journalist, is that durable peace in Europe and mutual understanding between East and West can only be built on mutual recognition of the interests and sovereignties.

«The concept of the book was the daily activities. At first it was interesting to start from the fact that Putin brought some artificial figure. But meeting and talking with him made the image clearer, and the idea of it – more alive,» said Seipel RIA Novosti. According to him, writing the book took him three to four years. In addition to the already released editions in the Netherlands, France, Russia, Italy and Germany, it is being translated in China and few other countries.

«Politics is interests, which are dictated by the country’s history, geopolitical situation, its cultural development. You have in Russia has a certain vision of Germany, we in Germany there is a certain image of Russia. We always and often can’t hear each other. If you want understanding, you must listen to the interests of another. First of all, this book explains the position of Russia, which must be taken into account», — said the Agency interlocutor.

In his speech, Seipel said his conversation with Putin lasted deep into the night, and the level of the German language the Russian President often left without a job who were with them the interpreter. According to the author, the book he was trying to understand the evolution of Russian policy after the USSR collapse and Russia’s reaction to Western attempts to compare it with «remedial student in the class», turning it on its way. «Imposing their model, the expansion of NATO to the East, as the reverse side of the coin, has led to the strengthening of Russia and growth of its role. Seipel worked as a foreign correspondent for the magazines Stern and Spiegel, in the beginning of 90-ies went to the TV and began to specialize in economic and political matters. In 2012, for channel ARD he directed the documentary film «I, Putin. Portrait», where he painted a convincing portrait of the President of Russia, rejecting the demonization of the «Putin system». In November 2014 took for channel ARD interview Putin about his position in the conflict in Ukraine.

The book contains over 300 pages. It tells not only about the events of the last few years, but there are chapters on, for example, «the St. Petersburg years of Putin.» In the end, given history, where the latter date marked the arrival of German Chancellor Merkel Anel in Russia in may 2015.
