Russian Senator Alexey Pushkov considers the extension of the EU anti-Russian sanctions the influence of inertia and the lack of a clear policy.

The leaders of the countries-members of EU at the summit on Thursday decided to extend economic sanctions against Russia. However, the final decision embodying that took the heads of States should be decided later.

«A new extension of sanctions from the EU means no policy, instead it is the confirmation of the status quo. Sanctions no one believes. Inertia», — wrote Pushkov in his microblog on Twitter.

According to the Senator, the extension of sanctions against Russia will not help Ukraine, where «the economy is falling apart, the government is begging».

Relations between Russia and the EU deteriorated due to the situation in the Donbass, where Kiev in April 2014 began a military operation against the breakaway LC and the DNI, which declared independence after a coup in Ukraine in February 2014. Western countries have imposed a series of sanctions against Russia, Moscow has retaliated.

Russia has repeatedly stated that it is not a party to domestic conflict. Moscow has also repeatedly stressed that to talk to her in the language of sanctions is counterproductive.
