Far Eastern Federal University (FEFU) has opened a new educational program for training specialists in the field of creation of new medicines from marine organisms, according to the University.

«In the School of natural Sciences, the University opened new educational program «medicinal chemistry», designed for five years. During this time, students will learn how to distinguish biologically active compounds from natural sources, to synthesize their analogues and to investigate the effect on molecular level», — stated in the message.

According to the University, students with superior chemical education will receive knowledge in biology, Biomedicine and biotechnology. For the new program developed unique courses «Introduction to molecular pharmacology», «Fundamentals of molecular immunology», «Targeted synthesis of organic compounds», «Computer modeling of biomolecules», «Genetics and molecular biology».

Partner of the University will act Pacific Institute of Bioorganic chemistry, Feb RAS. Students will annually undergo practical training at the Marine experimental station of the Institute in the South of Primorye, will participate in expeditions and scientific work.

For the program «Medical chemistry» for students 18 allocated budget places.
