On the evening of 24 June in the capital Park «Tsaritsyno» within the framework of Bosco Fresh Fest will be the band Morcheeba, which is love, maybe even more than anywhere else. The musicians regularly perform here, and a few years ago they made a big tour around the country. His impressions of Russia vocalist Skye Edwards shared with RIA Novosti.

and here again go to Moscow as Morcheeba. It turns out, managed to sort it with Paul?

— Yes, we were able to negotiate. Gender ceased to be a member, but he owns part of the rights to the name, and he was against the fact that we acted as Morcheeba. Difficult situation. We couldn’t just sit idly by, so we recorded an album, released it and went to the tour last year as Skye and Ross. Fortunately, Paul changed his mind, and we just need to settle the formalities. I am very happy that we are back with Morcheeba. Still, it’s a big part of me and my life.

In General, to be a mother and a boss at the same time a little difficult. If eve Gaga not asleep at four in the morning, you really want to «pull rank» and to put him to bed. But then I remember myself at that age — how I went then! Although, actually, I’m trying to be straight with him. If we need to be somewhere at nine in the morning, he should be there ten. I may be late, he’s not.

— You come to Moscow not for the first time — there you got some favorite places and traditions? What do you usually buy here friends?

— Once I bought a set of matryoshka dolls, one for mom, but it was our very first visit, 15 years ago. Any special places there, but wherever I flew, I always try to try something from local cuisine. You know, sometimes I say, «Well here we are in Moscow, let’s go eat some sushi», I say, «No, let’s get something traditional.» I love soup of beetroot with meat and dill.

No, I don’t know (laughs). When we first arrived in Moscow and I went for a walk, it seemed to me that very few passers-by smile and generally look gloomy. But the concert was all quite different! There all seemed happy and content, smiling and singing to us. In my opinion, our Russian fans are very sincere people who know how to relax and have fun.

— What are your impressions from the tour in the Urals and Siberia?

It was really something! We travel around the world for 20 years, and I was incredibly happy to be in places where there never were, which had not heard before and even the names of which I can’t say.

Most of all I remember how after the concert in Ekaterinburg we went to some club, and I had a feeling that I was back in London. We have a district, Shoreditch, where he likes to hang with fashionable young people. This club really reminded me of Shoreditch with its atmosphere.

— I really like your cover of Let’s Dance David Bowie. Why did you choose this song and what is your relationship with Bowie?

— Thank you! We usually include in our concert program which cover, we have a few, including songs by Neil young and cat Stevens. Ross once suggested to try to take a song Bowie, and we were surprised how well it went for our style. Experienced a very pleasant feeling from it.

— Will do it in Moscow?

— I think so. We’ve recently decided that it was time to update the repertoire and to record some new covers, but still every time I want to play Bowie. Of course, our fans he is beloved.

Actually, I became a fan of Bowie recently, can’t say that I grew up with his music. In my house a child was playing mostly country music, which he adored my parents, and soul and R’n’b (modern rhythm and Blues. — Approx. ed.) — listening to older sisters. So with the work of Bowie I still continue to learn.

— Do you know any modern Russian musicians? For example, the Work of the MC, which will also be the headliner of Bosco Fresh?

— No, nobody heard except Wet Red that a few times were we in the warm-up. Here they are cool!

— What kind of music you prefer now?

— Just uploaded a lot of fresh music, now look what’s out there. Now playing track Affection of the group of Cigarettes After Sex, before that was Moon Shoes from Ravyn Lenae and to Keep It Cool from Kelela. What else is there? And, here’s a nice song, I’m New Here, which takes Gil Scott-Heron. In contrast to the musicians above, Gil will not be called neither a beginner nor a discovery, but the song is awesome. My favorite song for today is Million Dollar Loan of the group Death Cab For Cutie. Actually, I love to sew and listen to radio KCRW (American public radio College in Santa Monica, California. — Approx. ed.)!
