Former US Ambassador to Moscow Michael McFaul said goodbye to his Russian counterpart Sergei Kislyak, stressing that he felt pleasure to work with him, in spite of the divergent views.

«In light of the fact that Ambassador Kislyak is preparing to leave the Russian Embassy in the US, I wish him all the best. Work with it <…> it was a pleasure, even though we have different views», — wrote McFaul in his account on micro-blogging network Twitter.

McFaul was Ambassador in Moscow in the period from 2012 to 2014. He is now a Professor at Stanford University and is an active commentator for Russian-American relations. According to the Russian foreign Ministry, McFaul denied entry to Russia with the phrase «deliberate damage to relations between Moscow and Washington».
