Moscow and Minsk are coordinating their relations with EU

Russia and Belarus coordinate their relations with the European Union and shall endeavour to establish linkages between the EU and the Eurasian economic Union, said in a joint statement of foreign Ministers of the two countries on the occasion of the 25th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations.

The text of the statement distributed on Sunday by the press service of the Belarusian foreign Ministry.

«The Russian Federation and the Republic of Belarus continue to coordinate its relations with the European Union, and intend to make joint efforts for establishment of relations between EEU and the EU,» the statement reads.

It is also noted the active political dialogue at all levels between States. «During the last few years sustainable cooperative structure allows you to quickly find a mutually acceptable solution on any problem subjects on the bilateral agenda», — the statement stresses.

The message indicates to the similarity of the positions of Russia and Belarus in the issue of the adaptation of the CIS to modern realities, which allowed «to make an informed and constructive decision on the matter, thus decide the key directions for the further modernization and increase of efficiency of activity of the Commonwealth».

It is noted that the two countries strongly condemn terrorism in all its forms and manifestations. «We believe that effective counteraction to this phenomenon is possible only on a collective basis, without politicization and «double standards» in the strict and full compliance with relevant resolutions of the Security Council of the UN and the Global counter-terrorism strategy of the UN,» the statement stresses.

It is noted that Moscow and Minsk «based on the fact that the crisis in Eastern Ukraine has no military solution and must be resolved by political and diplomatic means on the basis of the Minsk agreements in their entirety and consistency».

«In the framework of the OSCE, the parties intend to continue to coordinate approaches on the most pressing topics on the agenda of the OSCE in favour of reform of the organization, including through the adoption of an OSCE Charter. We will also continue the cooperation between the Council of Europe,» the statement reads.
