Millions of Russian Muslims celebrate Eid al-Fitr («feast of breaking the fast»), which along with the Kurban Bayram («sacrifice holiday») is a major holiday of Islam.

Eid al-Fitr — the name of the «feast day» in Turkic languages. In Arabic it is called «Eid al-Fitr». According to legend, established by the prophet Muhammad in 624.

The festival is celebrated to mark the end of fasting in the Muslim Holy month of Ramadan, during which all believers (with the exception of a number of categories — for example, children and the elderly) all of the daylight hours abstaining from food, drink and entertainment, and then a special night prayer — Tarawih. At the end of each photoperiod limitation was removed and the faithful gathered for iftar — the breaking of the joint.

Day of Eid al-Fitr

In the day of the feast believers come together in prayer. There’s also the mufti (or the Imam) says to believers sermon.

«In his sermons, festive prayer in Eid al-Fitr, we say that a month is over but good deeds, our thoughts, prayers must be constant and perpetual. We therefore appeal to all the good that within a month the Muslims gained to strengthen their souls, of course, did not stop the charge, which we received in the month of Ramadan, continued during the year until the next Ramadan,» — said in an interview with RIA Novosti first Deputy Chairman of the Council of Muftis of Russia (SMR) Rushan Abbyasov.

Then the faithful go home to celebrate Eid al-Fitr in a circle of close people. On the occasion customary to lay a rich tables, which are called friends, neighbors, acquaintances.

In this day among Muslims it is customary to congratulate each other with the words «Eid Mubarak!» (blessed Eid!).

Charity for the holiday

During Ramadan, believers were given a special alms «zakat ul Fitr» — that, according to doctrine, God has accepted their fast. The money collected will go to charity.

The size of charity zakat-ul-Fitr in 2017 for men, women and children made up: 100 roubles from the poor; 300 rubles from people with average incomes and from 500 rubles from the wealthy.

The minimum amount of the atoning charity (fidyah-sadaqah) paid by a person who is unable to fast in Ramadan for any reason, is 150 rubles. However, as specified in the CMP, the amount can be increased depending on their average daily spending on food.

Also, after the holiday, Muslims visit various institutions for socially vulnerable categories of people. Active participation, as the representative of the CMP, taking volunteers.

Celebrations in the capital

In Moscow the festivities will be a mosque. Its doors for believers, it will open at 3.30. And at 7: 00 begins the evening prayer, led by the SMR Chairman Sheikh Ravil Gainutdin.

Before the start of the holiday prayers, the mufti, as reported in CMP, «will offer words of praise to God», then the Minbar (tribune – ed.), the mosque will appeal to all the Muslims of Russia to preach. At 9: 00 Moscow time on air of TV channel «Russia» will show the recording of ceremonial events.

In addition, prayers will be held at the Historic mosque in the Tatar lane, the memorial mosque on the Poklonnaya hill mosque «Yardyam» and allocated by the government of Moscow sites.

In places of celebration, as well as in the areas of active traffic will be special measures to ensure security. The need for such measures due to the fact that these days in Moscow is hosting the football confederations Cup.

In Moscow will limit movement

On Sunday from 04.00 to 11.00 traffic restrictions will be introduced: near Moscow Cathedral mosque — on the streets Durov, Shchepkina (a site from street Samara to the Garden ring), bourgeois, Gilyarovskogo street (site of Chepelskogo lane to the Garden ring), Kapellskar lane (the section from Prospekt Mira to the street Gilyarovskogo) and vypolzov lane house district 7.

Restrict movement and close to the Historic mosques on the streets: Most Tatar, Stary Tolmachevsky pereulok, Maly Tatarsky pereulok, Klimentovsky pereulok, Ozerkovskaya lane. Close to a Mosque «Shuhada» street yuzhnobutovskaya (site of Ostaf street to Buninskaya Avenue); on the streets of Minsk (the area from Mosfilmovskaya street to Kutuzovsky Prospekt); on Andropov Avenue opposite the house 11, the housing 2.

In addition, on Sunday from 04.00 to 11.00 the movement of vehicles would be difficult on land near mosques «Yardyam» and «Inam» on the street Khachaturian (site of Altuf’evskoe shosse street Otradnaya) in connection with limitation of motion in the right lane. Also will be temporarily suspended embarkation and disembarkation of passengers of ground public transport in this area. On the same day from 07.00 to 08.30 will be closed metro station «Minskaya» on the entry of passengers.
