To withdraw from already signed contracts in the current tense situation of the fight against terrorism incorrectly, said to RIA Novosti, the proposal of the U.S. Congress on the country’s withdrawal from the Treaty on the elimination of intermediate and shorter-range missiles (INF Treaty), the Chairman of the Duma Committee on international Affairs Alexei chepa.

On Saturday, Politico, citing a number of congressmen said that the administration estimates received from Congress a proposal for the country’s withdrawal from the INF Treaty.

«My opinion is that to get out of agreements that have been reached, perhaps, in the current situation wrong. Because the world situation is tense, and at a time when we fight, must fight the main threat of terrorism, to exit certain contracts incorrectly,» said chepa RIA Novosti.

The MP explained that the ratio that was achieved with the signing of agreements on some items today has changed. «Something does not suit us, something does not suit America,» he said.

Chepa did not assess whether the US administration for this decision. «Now things are determined not by the mind, and some political, the immediate motives. The Republican and democratic parties in the (United) States (of America) has reached the point of absurdity, and sometimes a statement about the threat of Russia, about the impact on elections… interfere with all the logic of the actions of many American politicians,» explained his position MP. Chepa added that such ideas are «in principle, someone will offer.»

The MP stressed that unilaterally, none of the countries can not withdraw from the Treaty. «If anyone would come, we too will emerge from this agreement….This can lead to the disruption of the balance of forces,» he concluded.

The INF Treaty prohibits parties from possessing ballistic missiles, land-based and cruise missiles with a range of from 500 up to 5,5 thousand km of Russia and the United States periodically put forward mutual accusations of violating INF Treaty, signed in 1987.

The Russian foreign Ministry said earlier that Moscow is seriously concerned about the use of unreasoned data according to the Agreement on the elimination of intermediate-range and shorter-range nuclear forces (INF) as a pretext for a campaign about possible retaliatory measures against Russia.

The Russian foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov said that the Russian leadership has repeatedly confirmed its adherence to the obligations under the INF Treaty and «any wrongdoing on our part.» He noted that «the United States claim otherwise, but provide no specific information that could be checked in order to clarify the situation.» The Minister of foreign Affairs of the Russian Federation also stressed that Moscow «has very serious questions to US about some «liberties» with the implementation of the Treaty by the Americans themselves.
