Russia will continue deliveries of missile engines RD-180 in the United States as it is in the national interest, told RIA Novosti Deputy Prime Minister Dmitry Rogozin.

Rogozin was in the past few days in Belgrade in connection with the inauguration of the President of Serbia Aleksandar Vucic.

Answering a question on sanctions of the West, he pointed out the pragmatic approach of the United States in connection with obtaining technology in space from Russia.

«We could now, for example, to block the supply of jet engines RD-180 for the American missiles. We discussed this issue, I gathered our experts several times. I thought – why?» — said the Deputy head of the Russian government.

According to Rogozin, the refusal to supply rocket engines to the United States would only lead to financial losses for the Russian side.

«We’ll lose money, let them fly on our engines, especially because they are old… It is 1994, we have been a new engine created, but they are all in this flying,» he added.

While Rogozin stressed that the RD-180 «reliable, very good» rocket engine.

In early may, the first Deputy Minister of defense Bob work told Congress that the U.S. maintain schedule to abandon Russian rocket engines RD-180.

Earlier, the US Congress ordered the Pentagon to abandon the use of Russian engines by 2019, citing political differences with Russia. Congress does not rule out extending this period, if we fail to create a replacement for the RD-180. The ban also does not concern already purchased engines.

The CEO of United rocket and space Corporation Yuri Vlasov suggests that, although the contract engines in the United States signed until 2018, in reality, the supply can last up to 2024-2025.
