The court found guilty of libel editor of the «people’s journalist» Olga Lee and sentenced her to a fine of 90 thousand rubles, told RIA Novosti in the Leninsky district court of Kursk.

«Today the court issued a verdict in the case. She was found guilty. The defendant was sentenced to a fine in the amount of 90 thousand rubles,» — said the Agency interlocutor.

Earlier the state accuser asked to sentence the Olga to a fine of 100 thousand rubles. The journalist didn’t admit the guilt.

According SUCK of the Russian Federation in the Kursk region, Whether in the newspaper «people’s journalist» for September-October 2015 issued on its behalf an article entitled «the involvement of the Prosecutor of the region Filimonov to criminal liability.» In this article, according to investigators, provided false information, discrediting the honor, dignity and undermine the professional reputation of the judge of Lenin district court of Kursk Ludmila Surovoi. According to the SUCK, in the article the judge is accused of willful violation of the principle of presumption of innocence.

Lee earlier told RIA Novosti that insists on his innocence. She stated that has nothing to do with the article published in the newspaper, because at that time was on leave to care for a child. The journalist is sure that criminal case against it has custom-made character, and intended to achieve the court outside the Kursk region. In January of 2017 Lee was indicted in April on it began the trial.

Olga Lee has gained prominence in social media after a video message to the leadership of the country about corruption in the Kursk region. Also, the journalist initiated the collection of signatures for the resignation of the Governor of Kursk region Alexander Mikhailov.
