Six police officers were injured after clashes with protesters in the East of London on Sunday evening, reports Sky News.

The protesters lit flares and pelted police with stones. Four injured police officers were taken to hospital, said the TV channel.

According to the newspaper Times, the result of the protests, four people were arrested for offenses such as arson, disturbing public order and causing unlawful damage. The clashes of protesters with police were sent helicopters and road closures.

The reason for the protests was the death of 25-year-old black Briton Adira Frederico da Costa after June 15, his car was stopped by the police. After six days of detention da Costa died in hospital.

The protesters claim that da Costa «brutally beat» his neck was broken, and on his head there were traces of injuries. However, the independent Commission complaints against the police claims that preliminary autopsy results do not indicate that da Costa received injuries of the spine.
