The Russian women’s team won the chess world team championship

Women’s team of Russia on chess, composed of Alexandra Kosteniuk, Kateryna Lagno, Valentina Gunina, Alexandra Goryachkina and Olga Girya won the team world championship held in Khanty-Mansiysk.

In the final ninth round of the Russians in the lead in the overall standings, meet with their primary chaser – Ukrainian. To win the tournament the Russian team needed was a draw. In the first game Kosteniuk played out a draw with Ukrainian Anna Ushenina and brought the Russian team victory.

The Russian women’s team for the first time in history won the team championship of the world.
