Moscow musical theatre «Helikon-Opera» completes the season with a loud premiere — a new production of Il Trovatore by Giuseppe Verdi. In addition to the prohibitive complexity of the vocal parts, this Opera is known for its tragic beauty and drama of the story. To stress the urgency of the bloody events described in the Italian masterpiece in the theater lobby, opened the exhibition «War and… the world?» devoted to the fate of Aleppo, Syria.

Pictures of the horrific consequences of military conflict in one of the oldest cities in the world has been provided by the outstanding correspondents MIA «Russia today»: Valery Melnikov, Ilya Pitalev, Mikhail Voskresensky and Mikhail Alaeddini.

In addition to the four trains of the strongest performers, the brilliant Spanish conductor Oliver Diaz, experienced artists Igor Gentle and Tatiana Tulubieva and choreographer of Edvald Smirnov, the Director uses another powerful impact art — photography.

In the foyer of the theatre is an exhibition of images of a ruined Aleppo, made by the best photographers MIA «Russia today». As planned by the artistic Director, the exposition before the performance or during intermission will help the viewer to experience an incredible actuality told at the Troubadour history.

«Today is a very difficult time, we turn on the TV and see war, we see the blood constantly. Of course, «Il Trovatore» is a story that is very associated with the topic, because we are talking about the murder of one brother the other, but they don’t know that they were brothers. I think the worst is now in our time is that people are killing each other not because they are terrible, but because, first, they have someone manipulates someone is profitable, and second, the worst — feeling place. This certainly drives the world, and in «Il Trovatore» is laid,» — said Dmitry Bertman.

At first, the relationship between romantic Opera, Verdi and contemporary armed conflict in Syria may seem obvious to the viewer, but the team who worked on the production, I’m sure that pictures of photographers MIA «Russia today» speak for themselves.

«There’s one brilliant photo: a cat sits in the center of Aleppo, and this cat is just a human portrait. When I saw this photo, I photographed her on the phone because she is simply unique. It is a work of tragic art» — shared his impressions of the exhibition Dmitry Bertman.

The theme of fratricidal conflict, senseless violence and chaos that entails war, reflected in every picture of the exhibition, destroyed by militants from the historic centre of Aleppo, guarded by UNESCO, to burned Christian books and playing on the ruins of the children.

«The exhibition brings together artists who represent the Agency «Russia today». It’s outstanding photographers, who themselves have been in Aleppo and brought back to its vibrant, hot experience. It’s the pictures that go straight to the heart, excite and affect everyone who looks at them. The pictures are so tragic, sharp, look at them with indifference is simply impossible, and it seems that more strength for life remains. I really wish this show set up the audience for the perception of this performance, to performance and exhibition lived together, how we all should live, because we have one mother Land», — said Anna Gribkova-Tkhostova on, Director of the Museum of the Moscow musical theater «Helikon-Opera».

However, the photographs the relationship between the exposure and the setting ends. Reference to the Syrian conflict present in the play. So, on the stage as decoration used a fragment of the famous arch in Palmyra, but Gypsies are not dressed in traditional Opera costumes and military uniforms. Because in the end tragedies like these pieces of art, there is no Statute of limitations.
