The statement of the representative of the NATO increasing military presence of the Russian Federation and the placement of Intercontinental ballistic missiles in the Crimea and in Kaliningrad is an attempt to justify the actions of the Alliance, however Russia will not ignore the growing number of NATO military bases on its borders and will be answered in the framework of international law, said the Chairman of the Duma Committee on defence Yury Shvydkin.

Earlier, Politico reported that the head of the NATO military Committee, General Petr Pavel said that the Alliance is opposed to the efforts of Russia to increase military capabilities «at almost every level», but at the same time, I’m not sure that Russia is «aggressive intentions» against the Alliance. The NATO representative noted the «growing military presence of Russia», mentioning reports of «placing Intercontinental ballistic missiles capable of carrying nuclear weapons into Kaliningrad and Crimea».

«This is an attempt to justify their actions, but I want to reiterate that if the US and its allies, placing various bases, increasing his power near our borders, I think we are going to look the other way… they are sadly mistaken. We will also make the appropriate response… within the framework of international law», — said Switchin RIA Novosti.

The MP stressed that, unfortunately, «the imagination of the representative of NATO has no limits». Svitkin also said that Russia many times stated that the country does not threaten anyone, and respects all norms of international law.

«We are always open to appropriate arrangements for the respective flights that carry including the United States in order to ensure that we comply with all norms of international law,» he added.
