Sanctions by themselves cannot solve the DPRK nuclear issue, it is necessary to sit down at the negotiating table, said the Chairman of the national Assembly of South Korea Chung Se-Kyung.

«Provocations from North Korea deserve sanctions of the world community. However, history has shown that sanctions alone cannot resolve the nuclear problem of North Korea. And in addition to the sanctions we also need to sit down at the negotiating table, to lead such negotiations with the North (DPRK),» said Jung Se-Kyung at the second meeting of speakers of parliaments of the countries of Eurasia in Seoul.

«That’s why I stress the need to hold parliamentary dialogue between the countries involved in the six — party talks,» he added.

The speaker of the Parliament of Korea stressed the importance of creating a peace regime on the Korean Peninsula and in northeast Asia for sustainable prosperity in Eurasia.
