The investigating authorities are checking on the fact of defilement of a minor monument in the city of Belomorsk, according to SU RF IC in the Republic of Karelia.

«In law enforcement bodies of the city of Belomorsk asked a local resident with the statement that a group of minors defiled a monument to «Sons and daughters of the Republic of Tatarstan and Karelia, the Defenders of the Fatherland 1941-1945″, established in the city of Belomorsk», — stated in the message.

On this fact conducted preliminary examination, set all the circumstances of the incident.

Earlier in mass media appeared information that in Belomorsk was allegedly disciplined a police officer for the harsh comments posted in one of social networks pictures where a few teenagers provocatively posing at the monument to those killed in world war II. Police outraged by this behavior, as he wrote in his comments, he also stood up for the heroes of the war and encouraged young people to study history, to be proud of the heroism of their ancestors. It was reported that the mother of one of the teenagers did not like the review officer, and she wrote a statement to the police station. The media also reported that police from different regions staged a flash mob in social networks in support of colleagues from Belomorsk with the hashtag #Lexapro.

On 25 June, the Ministry of interior of the Republic of Karelia has denied the media reports about punishment of a police officer in Belomorsk for the comment on the social network. According to the Ministry, currently being tested on the fact of placing of the comment. The Agency added that the audit «will be objectively and comprehensively investigated materials and at the end decided in accordance with law.»
