The first ever business mission from Japan arrived on Tuesday at Kuril Islands, said on Wednesday the press service of the Governor of the Sakhalin region.

«The delegation of the 69 people on the eve arrived in the South Kuril region in the passenger ship «Atopica». In its structure representatives of the 32 private companies, state and municipal agencies: the staff of the Japanese government and the Hokkaido governorship, the ministries of foreign Affairs, economy, trade and industry, labour and welfare, health, agriculture, forestry and fisheries, infrastructure, transport and tourism, as well as a number of institutions, associations and public organizations. The group is headed by the Special adviser to the Prime Minister of Japan eiichi Hasegawa. Over the next five days she will visit Islands Kunashir, Iturup and Shikotan», — said in the message.

The purpose of the visit of the Japanese to explore the possibilities for joint economic activities of Japan and Russia on the Kuril Islands. Agreements about this earlier at the highest level made up of the heads of States Vladimir Putin and Shinzo Abe. To establish direct contacts was dispatched to Sakhalin oblast from Japan public-private expert group. In may, she has already visited the island. Then the previously discussed projects that could be jointly implemented in the Kuril Islands. They are in the areas of agriculture and fisheries, tourism, energy, medicine, and recycling of household waste.

During the visit of the business mission intends to clarify the plan, details after reviewing the case with the main Kuril objects.

The business mission intends to visit the objects of fishery, tourism, medical, retail and services, as well as sea and air port of the Islands.
