German scientists found in Turkey carved human bones, which were used in the rituals of the «cult of the skull», the age of the artefacts is around 11 thousand years, writes The Guardian.

The remains were discovered during excavations in Göbekli Tepe (Turkey), together with numerous human bones. Found three skulls differed from the others in that in them with the help of silicon shells were drilled and «furrow».

«Carved skulls have a very deep line. Perhaps this is the first of its kind of such finding,» says Julia Gresky from the German archaeological Institute in Berlin.

In addition, next to the skulls archaeologists have found fragments of a large limestone pillars are T-shaped. The pillars are decorated with numerous figures of animals and people.

But the patterns on the turtles is far less graceful that allows scientists to assert that such images were applied not for decorative purposes.

«Members of the cult believed that in this way the power of the dead go to live» — allows the archaeologist.
