CSR: Russia’s presence in energy markets, the EU will be reduced

The Russian presence at energy markets of the European Union in the next two decades will be reduced, Russia needs to diversify its energy markets and national exports in General and to distance themselves from the political processes within the EU, says the report of the Center for strategic research (CSR).

«The Russian presence in the energy markets of the EU in the next two decades will be reduced. This is due to the politicization of the energy cooperation, the EU’s search for alternative suppliers, innovation in the energy sector,» the report said.

In CSR believe that Russia needs to diversify its energy markets and national exports in General and to distance themselves from the political processes within the EU.

Experts also note that although the European Union in the long term will remain the most important trading partner, both sides disagree on a number of political issues.

«The Ukrainian crisis has frozen co-operation in most areas. The EU has formed a new doctrinal base for relations with Russia, in which country is the main security challenges. Nevertheless, there remains a number of opportunities to minimize the damage caused by the Ukrainian crisis. These opportunities should be promptly used in parallel with the decision of the Ukrainian issue and other political issues», — noted in the material.
