History textbooks should correspond to a single historical-cultural standard, in this case, they will help to educate people, thinking alone is not influenced falsifiers of history, said the Chairman of the Russian historical society (RIO), Director of the foreign intelligence Service of the Russian Federation Sergey Naryshkin.

Speaking Thursday at a press conference dedicated to the fifth anniversary of the reconstitution of the RIO Sergey Naryshkin noted that, according to sociological polls, the interest in history among the Russian population is growing. «For this is the understanding that without a past has no future, and the story is a kind of teacher of life,» he said.

However, to convince Naryshkin, the history needs to be taught professionally, «otherwise, we will gain strength various Amateurs, novelists and even outright forgers and speculators from history,» he added.

«School textbooks should be well-designed, should conform to the historical and cultural standard, which was developed at the initiative and under the auspices of the Russian historical society,» — said Naryshkin.

He recalled that on the basis of this standard was developed by a range of history books, three of which are recommended for use in schools.

According to Naryshkin, the man who knows the history, it is difficult to manipulate, «it is harder to make part of the crowd, led by all sorts of provocateurs from politics.»
