Opera singer Dmitri Hvorostovsky has canceled performances in Vienna due to illness

Russian Opera singer Dmitry Khvorostovsky said their performances at the Vienna state Opera for health reasons, said Thursday in a press-service of the musical theater.

«Because of the serious illness Dmitri Hvorostovsky forced to cancel its scheduled for the upcoming season-2017/18 performances at the Vienna state Opera,» — said in a statement released by the press office.

About who will replace him in the performances of «masquerade», «Otello» and «Rigoletto» will be announced later added in a press-service.

«All employees want the state Opera Dmitri Hvorostovsky a lot of energy, and our thoughts are with him and his family,» the statement reads.

Earlier Hvorostovsky in interview to «the Russian newspaper» told about the intention to give concerts in the UK, Austria and Sochi.

Opera singer also said that he had a lot of agreements with the theatres, but he refused to performances, no longer sings in the Opera. According to Hvorostovsky, now he prefers concerts. At the end of June 2015 Hvorostovsky, for many years living in London, has announced that it is suffering from a brain tumor. Since then, the singer underwent several courses of chemotherapy.
