Support visitors and colleagues helps the «Gogol-center» to stay in a difficult situation related to the case, «the Seventh Studio», said the theatre’s artistic Director Kirill Serebrennikov.

In may at the Metropolitan theater «Gogol-center» and the home of its artistic Director Kirill Serebrennikov were searched in the case of embezzlement of state funds at a nonprofit organization, «the Seventh Studio», based Serebrennikov. Suspects in the case are former Director of the «Gogol-the centre» Alexey Malopolski, accountant Nina Masliaev and ex-CEO of the company Yuri Itin. Previously Presnensky court of Moscow arrested Malopolska in the case of fraud in an organized group, he faces up to 10 years imprisonment.

As follows from the court’s decision, the Ministry of culture of the Russian Federation has allocated about 70 million roubles on carrying out of performances and tours. The money was transferred in ANO, «the Seventh Studio». The defendants, to the materials, decided to steal some of these funds. Itin, Malopolski and Masliaev prepared financial documents for the organization of the play «a Midsummer night’s Dream», but in reality the cost was not, the judge announced the details of the investigation. Thus, the defendants according to the investigation, stole more than 2 million rubles.

Previously art Director of the Meyerhold Center, Yelena Kovalskaya told RIA Novosti that the campaign in support of Malopolska will last about a week and will focus on changing the measure of restraint.
