«I can understand that many do not like in most of the Director’s idea of the the movie «Matilda». He often spoke not only about the rights of artists, but also the freedom of the viewer and audience reaction (though it would be good to start to see the film). While centralized collection of signatures in parishes in the diocese for the ban of the film think is a mistake,» he wrote on his page in Facebook Legoyda.

Representatives of the public movement «the Royal cross» called the film «Matilda» «anti-Russian and anti-religious provocation in the field of culture». The Deputy of the state Duma Natalia Poklonskaya at their request sent a request to Prosecutor General Yuri Chaika asking to check the picture. Later, Poklonskaya said that he had received the answer of the experts on the movie «Matilda» and sent them a negative rating to the Prosecutor General of the Russian Federation.
