The official news Agency of Saudi Arabia (SPA), citing a source denied reports of some mass media about anti-Russian statements of the crown Prince and Minister of defence of the Kingdom.

Previously, some publications said that the crown Prince of Saudi Arabia and defence Minister Mohammad bin Salman al Saud allegedly called Russia the main threat and threatened to destroy its armed forces in Syria. Media have referred to the statement by the crown Prince, is published on the Agency’s website SPA, however, the audit showed that such text is not there.

«There are some media trying to spread various false news about the outstanding relations of Saudi Arabia and Russia with the aim to harm relations between the two friendly countries,» — said the Agency SPA official source.

According to him, both countries maintain a positive and open dialogue on an ongoing basis. The source called on to news about the relations of the two countries only from the official media.

Mohammed bin Salman became crown Prince on 21 June, after his father — Saudi king Salman bin Abdulaziz al Saud issued a decree on the change of the heir instead of his nephew Mohammed bin Nayef heir was appointed the 31-year-old son of the king. Mohammed bin Naif lost the post of interior Minister, Mohammed bin Salman retained his post as defence Minister and became Deputy Prime Minister in the government.
