Self-portrait of Andy Warhol went under the hammer for six million pounds

Self-portrait by Andy Warhol sold Wednesday at Sotheby’s in London for 6 million pounds, said the auction house.

The main lot auction was the work of another American artist Jean-Michel Basquiat, it was sold for 6.49 million pounds.

The third number was the joint work of Warhol and Basquiat called «Sweet Pungent» – it was sold for 4,43 million pounds. Another collaboration in 1985, called «New flame» is unknown to the buyer is estimated at 2.4 million.

Another major lot was the painting by German artist Gerhard Richter, 1989, it has sold about 4 million pounds. The work of classic American pop art of Roy Lichtenstein «left» for 3.3 million pounds, an abstraction of the Frenchman Jean Dubuffet in 1955 sold for 2.6 million pounds.
