The free trade agreement between Ukraine and Canada will start work from August 1, said the Ukrainian Ambassador in Ottawa Andriy Shevchenko.

«I hasten to report: free trade between Ukraine and Canada starts on the 1st of August. Canada sent us a note about the completion of the ratification procedures,» wrote Ukrainian Ambassador in Thursday on Twitter.

Deputy Minister of economic development and trade, trade representative of Ukraine Nataliya Mykolska explained on his page in Facebook that from August 1, Ukrainian exporters will be able to take advantage of new opportunities offered by the free trade agreement with Canada, in particular, the free trade zone with Canada will provide Ukraine duty-free access on 98% of the headings.

In March, the Verkhovna Rada ratified the agreement on free trade zone between Ukraine and Canada, the same decision in the beginning of June I attended the canadian MPs.

The negotiations on FTA between Ukraine and Canada entered the active stage in September 2014. The agreement was signed by countries in July 2016. The draft agreement on free trade zone between Ukraine and Canada in the first place, provides for the deepening of economic and trade cooperation between the two countries. In particular, it concerns the trade of industrial and agricultural goods, protection of intellectual property and public procurement.
