A possible implementation of the wishes of the Russian hockey player Alexander Ovechkin to go to the Olympics in South Korea will lead to a breach of contract, so at the moment his arrival is impossible, said the Chairman of the Board of Directors of CHL Gennady Timchenko.

Earlier, the NHL announced that the issue of participation of players from League clubs in the winter Olympic games 2018 in South Korea’s Pyeongchang is closed, a pause in the regular championship in this tournament. Ovechkin, who plays in the NHL for Washington, said that will still go to the Games in Korea.

«What can we do with the NHL? This is a serious contract, as to violate them? Today it is impossible. The word Ovechkin is his desire. But it is a violation of the contract», — said Timchenko told reporters.
