The city Council of Vancouver, Canada decided to ban the sale of cats, dogs and rabbits in pet stores, the TV channel CTV News.

Member of the city Council, Heather deal, has proposed to introduce such a ban, noting that he was surprised that the city still sells cats and dogs. «It’s not what people need in Vancouver. We got more than 1,2 thousands of messages from people who asked us to impose a ban», — quotes its words TV channel.

One of the reasons for the ban have concerns related to the conditions in which Pets are growing, while in retail trade, where the main objective is profit extraction.

Vancouver became the first city to have introduced such restrictive measures on the sale of animals in pet shops, said the TV channel, specifying that the ban also operates in Richmond and new Westminster.

At the same time in the city there is a pet store that sells cats and dogs, but animals are not on display. Customers can find and select animals on the website of the pet shop and ask to see someone in particular. Also Pets can be taken from those who bred, or in shelters.
